General information
Pregnancy is a happy but also a crusial time in a woman’s life, where the balance, responcibilities , physical image, psychology and role in life alters.
As Health professionals and generally anyone that is involved in the subject of motherhood, we should respect women, their wellbeing and the needs of their body during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the recovery that follows it. It is essential to know, based on international medical standards, all the problems, rules, and patterns within which we can proceed helping the mother cope with her new tiring routine.
This course will give us the basic knowledge regarding the anatomy and kinesiology of a pregnant woman and a new mother. It has to do with breathing techniques that can be useful during pregnancy and especially during the natal procedure.
Our basic rule is not pushing, giving advice, or taking any risk involving the health of the mother or fetus. We are consulting the Gynecologist or Obstetrician or the Midwife for any question or problem we are facing.
Our goal is to give the appropriate support in every pregnant woman so that she can live as comfortably as possible through the unavoidable changes in her body, mood, and psychology.
PRE & POST NATAL EXERCISE
Exercise for pregnancy will strengthen the body and train mind and soul, as it prepares women for the miracle of labor and their new role as a mother. No one should run a marathon without proper preparation. Respectively, we could not allow a woman to give birth without being sufficiently prepared. The exercises should develop the necessary strength and endurance, enhancing blood flows, improving digestive function, and helping in weight control during pregnancy. Breathing techniques prepare women to handle the pains of labor. Relaxing can help the ability of the mother to concentrate and get through the time of severe contractions. Giving birth is an event in the life of a mother, in which she participates with her body, soul, blood, sweat and love.
How safe is exercise during pregnancy?
The programs proposed in the pre and post-natal exercise seminar are based on the guidelines of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), as well as the International Federation of Gynecology & Obstetrics (FIGO).
How Much Should A Woman Exercise During Pregnancy?
If you are healthy and your pregnancy is normal, it is safe to continue or to start most types of exercises, with some possible alterations. Physical exercise does not raise the danger of a potential miscarriage, and it is not responsible for light weighted newborns or premature childbirth. (For information visit www.acog.org) The recommended time and type of exercises will be given in detail at the seminar on the basis of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the protocols of the International Organizations for Health and Sport Certification (NASM).
Myths & Basic Safety Guidelines before and after labor
Given the potential risks, a thorough clinical evaluation for each pregnant woman should be carried out before participating in an exercise program. The usual prenatal care, as advocated in ACOG’s publications, is sufficient except for exceptions involving the follow-up of an exercise program for pregnant women.
-High Risk Pregnancy
What are high risk groups and when should a mother avoid or abstain from an exercise program?
-How soon can I return to an exercise program after childbirth?
What are the suggestions from the international organizations ACOG and FIGO?
-Suggested pre and post-natal exercise programs per trimester and week of pregnancy
Mayo Clinic of America suggests that if you are pregnant, participating in Pre & Post Natal Yoga is a safe practice of exercise with a multifaceted approach that encourages mental concentration and careful breathing with many positive results for the mother as well as the baby. Pilates method for pregnant women and new mothers activates the deep posterior muscles, promotes stabilization, and helps the body to recover faster after pregnancy. Researches have shown that exercise during pregnancy helps at improving the quality of sleep, reducing tension and anxiety, increasing the strength, elasticity and endurance of muscle groups that attenuate at birth, reducing digestive stress and eliminating the feeling of nausea, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches and panting due to insufficient breathing. EPIMORFOSIS organizes specialization seminars for rehabilitation professionals. I’ve watched a lot. I strongly recommend you trust EPIMORFOSIS for your specialization and lifelong information.
Training, a steady value for more than twenty years now, leads physiotherapy and keeps it at a very high level, well done to George Karambalis and his associates, we owe a lot to all of you.
The best physiotherapists training institution. It enables the development of the necessary knowledge for clinical reasoning. High-quality training without having to travel abroad.
My first steps in professional specialization started with EPIMORFOSIS and continue. It has been with us all these years, covering the need for modern and documented knowledge, in collaboration with internationally acclaimed educational institutions.
I have known George Karampalis and EPIMORFOSIS for many years. I’ve had the opportunity to join several clinical courses and I can argue that, at the level of organisation and selection of trainers, they have a high level of recognised prestige.
EPIMORFOSIS justifies its name by providing high quality courses. George Karampalis operates more like a constant “trainee” and less like an entrepreneur, and this is an additional positive fact in the effort that is put by the workers and teachers of EPIMORFOSIS.
