Doctor, Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery, AUTH
Dr. Dimitrios Dionysiou is Associate Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He has a main interest in Lymphedema microsurgery, in Breast and Lower Limb Reconstruction.
He graduated from the Medical School of Alexandroupolis in 1996, and he certified as a Plastic Surgeon in 2007. In 2007 he underwent a microsurgery fellowship in QVH-UK, in 2011 a lymphedema fellowship in Paris by Corrine Becker, in 2015 he received the postgraduate title: “Postgraduate training in lymphatic diseases for medical doctors” from the European School of Lymphatic Diseases, and in February 2017 for 1 year he was a Visiting Assistant Professor in lymphedema research at Stanford University, USA.
Within the framework of his continuing scientific training, he has attended numerous national and international educational seminars and conferences, where he has presented a significant number of scientific papers, and edited and authored in many medical books and chapters related to microsurgery and lymphedema. The Plastic Surgery Department of Aristotle University, under the supervision of Dr Dionysiou, has contributed in literature, with novel techniques in lymphedema diagnosis and management, as well as in breast reconstruction.
He is a member of national and international medical scientific societies, and since 2015 he is an active member of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS). He was serving as the Chair of EURAPS Research Council for 2020 and 2021, President of the Hellenic Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery for 2020, and Board Member of the Greek Lymphology Society.
Dr Dionysiou is the owner and Director of the private “THE Lymphedema Clinic”, in Thessaloniki, Greece.
